Published on 12/30/10 at 09:13overdrive type 70's, coupled with a boost function. more "dirty" od a 808, more blues than the Guv'nor.
UTILIZATION
Ultra simple. I got no manual, not necessary. Three pots, volume, tone, gain, and pots / switch to go from overdrive to boost function.
SOUND QUALITY
Pedal is a typed enough. I use it in parallel with od 808 and marshall Guv'nor. It complements and does not duplicate.
It has a more dirty than the guv 'nor and more dark.
it rises much higher gain than in the OD 808, with a sound less distinct. I prefer.
Solos for "cleaner", I prefer the Guv'nor, but I find it warmer than it .. used indiscriminately, it can be messy, but I realize that I use to use less and less the Guv'nor.
Adjustments: Gain 2 / 3 in general, I also sometimes with the couple od 808 matches with a surprising and powerful.
What surprised me is his bb2 with headroom. we can go far enough with, and go tickle the 70's heavy metal, which is a good thing. I thought this area there was rather reserved for the Guv'nor, I was wrong. In the end I realize that I play more often with the config bb2/od808 with my Guv'nor, released a more clean and modern.
I play exclusively with strats, but it sounds different as well with my standard U.S. single or my hotrail, the Texas Special, a vintage blues diparzio my tex mex.
playing with the tone, you get to have a good shine without having shrill treble, again I prefer the guvnor.
My everything is plugged into a AC30C2, top boost channel, adjusted with acute and severe damage to the kids back.
I have yet to try it in my marshall haze 15, but I think it sounds better in Vox.
My favorite setting is:
- (U.S. standard, tone and gain a background)) to gain 2 / 3, tone at 2 / 3, in a neck / middle and bridge with the hotrail.
- (American special, tone thoroughly, gain 9 of 10)), gain 1 / 2, tone at 11, coupled with a gain OD808 at 2 o'clock and tone at 12, middle and bridge position.
- (Mex tex mex deluxe, everything thoroughly), gain at 2 / 3, no od 808, tone almost fully on tutes positions.
OVERALL OPINION
Used for two months, I have the Guv'nor for 6 months and the OD 808 for two years. It is a perfect complement to these two pedals. However, one can definitely not use that as OD ca.
I like: the type 70's, very warm, both slight crunch that heavy overdrive. his mouth, it is badly beautiful! His strength, his logo very "old motel on Route 66"; Its very wide range of use, its non-versatile; its price.
I do not like: the impossibility to switch on the boost to the foot. So I do not use ever of the boost. Otherwise nothing. 9 for AC instead of 10.
paid 35 euro secondhand is like unbeatable value for money.
I remake that choice without hesitation. that's exactly what I wanted. I will go even further, these pedals are also very beautiful and I will buy another, just to have the complete collection ..
