Avalon, only this type of circuit operating in class A is not able to degrade the musical signal. Going back to AD 2055, it is an equalizer with three separate EQ sections, according to the frequency bands. The severe and acute sections not distinguish a frequency selection switches by ten positions, 18 Hz to 450 Hz for the first and 1.5 kHz to 25 kHz for the second. These selectors switch passive components, according to a long abandoned by almost all manufacturers because of its prohibitive cost of setting out method.
A light control reduces bandwidth corrected (Peak or Shelf for English) and amplitude adjustments are made using potentiometers in a range of + /-24dB for the low section and + /-20dB for acute, this relatively unusual excursion has been retained for psychoacoustic reasons to offset the loss of sensitivity of the auditory system in these frequency bands.
The central section is divided into two bands which partly overlap of 35 Hz to 450 Hz for a 160 Hz and 2 kHz for the other. The settings are well enteudu by potentiometers, and are available for each band of a frequency multiplier (x10). The amplitude can vary from less than 16 to more than 16dB, and the corrected bandwidth (Q-factor) is continuously adjustable. Finally in 2055 AD has a bypass.
As any material vocationally oriented I / O are obviously symmetrical XLR.
UTILIZATION
The layout of controls is very ergonomic, particularly the level settings to center detent, it may seem obvious but all the machines do not offer it. All level controls are arranged in a line in the upper part of the front panel, which allows you to view a glance if the unit is in linear position.
SOUND QUALITY
The first observation by engaging all equalizers settings amplitude 0, is that the machine is completely and permanently transparent, no signal degradation, no audible difference.

This medium AD2055 section has a rare intervention power without sacrificing ease of adjustments, corrections or musicality.
OVERALL OPINION
That we want to solve a problem or to change the look of a sound signal, anything goes with this Avalon. I think compared to many equalizers, quality, accuracy and effectiveness of corrections obtained can go to none, and the offering of the EQ sections with very different sound character, but overlapping against each other makes the highly versatile machine. Its direct competitors are named Focusrite or GML it complements beautifully.
Especially since as mentioned above, to top it all, the layout and spacing commands make 2055 a very nice tool to handle.
It is certainly a luxury solution for these times, but it is also extremely comfortable and durable solution. It is also a beam quality that all will not need with a price accordingly .. the rest is above all a story of choices and therefore belongs to you .. if as a buyer the potential profitability of such a tool you seems assured, so do not deprive yourself of this equalizer off Standards.
