The most important for my personal use, "the real time analyzer 61 bands". The simultaneous correction of defects speakers response curve but at the same time, the interactions of the room at the measurement point (usually the head of the listener to be located on the 3rd summit of an equilateral triangle whose other two are occupied by the speakers).
I also use from time to time the "seen and peak meter".
The display of the RTA (Real Time Analyzer) 61 bands is remarkably educational and insightful about the effectiveness of your mixes.
UTILIZATION
Concerning the use and setup, I preferred the old model. The configuration of the Ultracurve is not really simple at first. Should read the manual carefully and at the same time I read it, I highlighted the useful points of it.
Following this work I personally wrote a booklet summary of the calibration settings for an installation of sound diffusion, especially that once achieved, it does not return every day and you end up forgetting the setting tool. We do not re-calibration of the delivery device in case of a significant change in the provision of equipment or a change of speakers, for example.
At this moment I configured it to me shows the spectrum of sounds coming from the machine before correcting pregnant in order to analyze the sound as I treated and not the corrected and sent to the speakers, which mean absolutely nothing.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound quality is not critical.
The advantage of using I actually was only my usual listening I know that I have a linear or non-colored by the speakers themselves or by their positions in the local or by the lack of room acoustics (standing waves). I think it is useless to have very good listening if they are not corrected for the local although once this work is done may well fall equalization and correction see a good equalizer 31 Ultracurve strips and reserve for other uses ...
According to diverse opinions, converters of this machine would be of great quality and transparency and that could make one of its many uses.
OVERALL OPINION
I use this product for years. In college there are already more than 12 years while I was teaching the sound, then at me for 2 years at least. I could do without.
I have a JVC high-performance headphones and I found something similar with my MSP5 Yam equalized, which is far from being the case when I was bypasses correction Ultracurve without which my sounds are tainted and ringing Other parasitic resonances due to the position thereof on my office placed against a wall.
The advantage of this machine, its report "quality / price" unbeatable. I have not tried other real time analyzers since in my knowledge, there is no affordable.
