Easy installation and authorization (a simple "serial" to enter.)
TimeFactory software is a "stand alone" stretching and pitch-shifting. The implementation is quite simple. Placing the sample in the "Input File". For stretching, you can enter the percentage of elongation or shrinkage apply, but it is often more convenient to enter the tempo of departure and arrival (curiously, to do this is through the "Expert settings. ") For the pitch-shifting entering the number of semitones and cents you want to add or subtract (up one octave). Important: formants have their own setting for greater realism including voices (the principle of forming is explained in the manual - in English.) Then you must choose the algorithm used (five possibilities: fantastic sounding MPEX2, MPEX3, ClearScale, and DIRAC qDIRAC.) algorithms are defined in the manual, but there is not easy to make a choice. For my part, I got the best results using "DIRAC" in 95% of cases. After you click on "Process" and the treated sample appears in the column "Results". Specifically, the new file will be created in the folder where the file comes out. Note that you can choose the format of the new file (AIFF, WAVE, SoundDesigner II, CoreAudio).
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
TimeFactory gets along very well with my Mac Pro and my system (MacOS 10.6.8). I had a small problem with the version 2.3.5 that decided one day without warning not to open before I had yet changed system. But I was on the site of Prosoniq and I saw that version 2.4.0 was available at no additional cost. I installed and everything is back in order.
OVERALL OPINION
I use TimeFactory since many years. Apparently, this software is very convenient. But I must say, it has a drawback, and even a default no update was never solved. Indeed, when we Pitche stretche or a sample cleanly cut, small artifacts appear sound at the end and especially at the beginning of the result. The only solution I've found is to add a second (there is not need as much, but I like it quiet) of silence at the beginning and the end of the starting sample. Thus, no problem. But it requires editing and intersect the resulting sample.
Rest with such a defect, one might wonder why I persist so long to make use of this software. Well because it gives stretches and pitch-shiftings of outstanding quality and this even in high percentages. It is infinitely better than anything I could use another: Generations of Akai samplers, Digital Performer (whose algorithm is however not bad) and even Melodyne Celemony (which has other advantages .) I stretche including many loops of drums and percussion or even going away, transients are fully respected, the result is absolutely perfect in all respects. But I also implemented many other types of samples and the results are always amazing.
That's why I can not do without this software and can not put him a bad grade, despite a chronic annoying flaw and a price that is far from the floor (currently $ 499).
