Thread Connecting synthesizer to FL Studio

Hi, i have a very big dilema for quite some time. I have FL Studio 6 (also worked on all versions before this one) and a Novation KS5 61 note synthsesizer. I've read all the documentation possible from both FL Studio and KS5 and i still have no clue how do i connect or if it's even possible to use KS5 inside FL Studio, even only as a midi controller. I've made (or at least i hope i made) all cable connections by the book and ... i'm pretty much stuck as far as i see it form that moment. Anyone who uses FL Studio can explain like for dumies how can i do it, or if it's even possible to do it,... and if NOT ,... anyone knows if there's other platform like - let's say Cubase or Nuendo - that allows synthesizers to be included as an instrument for later sound processing in those platforms. Thx for future help.
