can't get reason 3.0 to recognize Yamaha P-80, please help

I'm running reason on a pc with a Yamaha UX16 MIDI to USB cable. I've loaded the drivers and the pc lists the MIDI cable as a properly functioning device. Any suggestions? Very frustrated. I've tried fiddling with the cable, but can't get reason to recognize the control surface. Thanks.
