i was wondering if open source diting is ok if your not a pro

i found a open source music editing program called KRISTAL and its also a multi track (16) recorder, it doesnt have midi support

it DOES have vst support so the E-mu 1820m working with it wont be a problem
i also have cubase vst 5.1 but i dont wanna pay extra to upgrade to sl 2.0, and this has everything sl has w/o midi

should i make an investment in using this program for my recordings ? anyone here familiar with KRISTAL?
