I'm just getting into PC music and I could use some help with understanding what to expect from my hardware and software. I run Sonar3 on my PC which has an integrated SoundMax sound card. I intend to record with MIDI. When I playback MIDI files I get no audiooutput. So my question is "should I be able to use my soundcard to output audio from MIDI playback? Thanks to any/all in advance.

Yes you should. Make sure your software is setup to output to the sound card.
