I had it for 2 years before selling a musician friend who uses the portable cot. I have since bought a fender happily 5W lamp that makes me feel good trs. This is not a bad little amp by any means. This amp comes at the economic small and portable side of Vox's approach to simulation amps. SOUNDS

This amp is not really and amp per se but a mini guitar playing speaker with amps sounds. You are not going to go up on stage with this thing or even record with it. You are going to tuck yourself away in your office or home and play without being disturbed.

I like this little unit with a Les Paul or humbucking style guitar. It has a high gain feature that sounds pretty fun to jam around with. You don't need any external effects since they have a bunch built into it. The only thing it is missing is a built in tuner. Then it would be an all in one portable office jamming machine.


OVERALL OPINION

This thing is ok and fun to mess around with. If you have spent any time with a real tube amp then this thing will not be that pleasurable for any great length of time. If you are closing your office or bedroom up and need a quite little 5 watt amp then this might be something you would go for.

At new they come in at around $140 and that isn't too bad of a price. I wish they had a tuner though then it would be great. It gets some fun tones and if you need something portable and don't care how it sounds for practicing then this might be right up your alley. I wouldn't recommend any engineer getting one of these things and if you are an engineer you probably already know that. So 14 year old kid this might be what you need.

The sounds are more than correct for an amp (and HP) of this size, with a preference for clean and blues. Crunches are quite nice, and distos are funny, but still sound great transistors (that said I still manage to have fun playing the metallica, then surely it's not that bad!)

OVERALL OPINION

I played on a Mesa Boogie Rect'O'Verb (which sends the hell ...), and of course we can not compare what is comparable.
That said, I am amazed, this mini-amp has a versatility and a realistic sound that amazes me, frankly it is perfect for playing in the lounge at moderate volume, and without leaving a ton of pedals of all kinds.

I would just put a layer on the portability (it fits in a bag type Eastpack) and low consumption of the device, the power selector to manage their consumption, which is a huge advantage when it runs on batteries .

OVERALL OPINION

I used it several years before I separated because I only used more sufficiently.

For me there is NO equivalent model, because its power switch is unique! And if we compare the power level, for me there is no comparison with the Roland Cube, which is just a toy next to no interest: the same price there is no hesitation to have. With the DA5 was a REAL amp, with whom I even made repeated with a battery, as surprising for its size, it has a sacred potato.

The set is very good and solid. If this amp is not bad for playing at home, it is mostly outdoors, for mobile use (mini-concerts, street wild oxen in the country ...) that finds its true value. I keep going back ... I do not know why exactly but this gal box vox still sounds fresh and more direct than the other amps that I use occasionally Room (laney p35-line6 spider30IV-orange-crush35ldx bugera v5 - marshall mg15fxnew) so this is the king.
For further convenience I use it with a multi (for distos-delay-rverb) and I do not see that asking for better work the booth ...

This is a VOX DA5 5W amp modeling. It has a selector (0.5, 1.5 and 5W) to measure the power. Not to make too much noise, we start at 0.5 with a volume loud enough to carry a little more dynamic amp.

It has 11 amp types (from clean to high gain) to cover a wide range of sounds.

A tone knob adjusts the tone. A gain knob plays on ... the gain of the amplifier and hence the distortion on some amps.

Side effects, there is a compressor, chorus, flanger, phaser, delay, reverb. Some may be put in chains (2 maximum), for example compressor + chorus. There is also a noise gate to reduce noise.

There is no strap for convenient wear (it would have been nice to have one before you can have it at the shoulder).

In terms of connectivity, of course the guitar input, but also a microphone input with volume control (sound will not be altered by the effects and amps), an auxiliary input jack large format (for an mp3 player for example) and an output headphone.

UTILIZATION

Use "default" is simple: you select an amp, it adjusts the gain and tone and add an effect. on the other hand, if you want to modify the effect parameters, it gets complicated: we must both push a button and turn a knob edict. And when two effects are set simultaneously, it is not clear what influences what button. So we grope and it can be daunting for a beginner. Not very intuitive stuff. Why did not you put 3 buttons to shoot instead?

It is complicated even for the noise gate: you have to bypass the effects and touch a button by turning a Knob ... And then each amp's noise gate setting by default. So when you change your amp, it should again be the setting of noise gate does not fit.

The clean sounds are amazing! On the ass ... I borrowed from my son at times! The blues are nice crunch. For cons, the distos high gains are not really top (at least with the original HP, I have not tested on another outing with HPs larger). To hide it, you have to play on the pitch and put a little effect. It's playable but do not expect him to breathe fire.

The effects are good and can cover many types of music.

If I could find that the clean and crunch, I put 9 / 10. I put 7 / 10 for all.

OVERALL OPINION

I (well. .. my son a. ..) this amp for 3 weeks. I found the best clean sounds in the Roland Micro Cube. In distos is very close with perhaps a little more heat on the cube.

The value for money is very good and this amp can play alone at home. It is primarily an amp to play clean sounds or slightly crunch. That's why I bought it for my son who starts scratching. It is unfortunate that the edition of the effects is so heavy.

For a beginner wanting to touch the dissto, I would put 6 / 10. In my case, I put 8 / 10, mainly thanks to the clear sound quality.

This is a small, portable digital amp with 5 watts. It's basically only good for practice. There is one guitar input and a mic input in the rear of the amp. There is some amp modeling, 2 clean amps, 3 blues, 2 "crunch" settings, 3 Hi Gain amp models and one labelled "drive". There is a gain knob, a tone knob, and a master volume. The amp is pretty good at simulating a diverse array of sounds. Don't expect pristine tone though. This amp really doesn't have too much too offer in terms of quality. You can get a rough idea of certain sounds from playing with Different amp settins, and the effects can be cool in limited amounts. Overall though, you'd never do anything beyond practice with this if you knew better. Recording and gigging are not an option with this. If you need to work on solos in your dorm room, this might be a great idea though. Considering this, I was a little more lenient with my grading.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using it for two years. I didn't have much use for it after I moved out of my freshman dorm, once I had more room to practice and was able to use a bigger, better amp. I don't like the effects, as they tend to sound pretty terrible most of the time and are somewhat hard to use. I tried some other models, some by Marshall and Fender (the model numbers escape me now). Those definitely sounded better but did not have the same effects. This is the issue that is the deal-breaker. I think the price is pretty reasonable for this amp, considering I didn't pay too much for it, but you have to make sure you're actually going to get enough use out of it. Also, be aware that it breaks easily; my roommate didn't admit it, but he broke it accidentally somehow. I had to replace it and i realized later that it probably wasn't even worth. I'd say that unless you really don't have the little bit more cash necessary to buy a better practice amp, stay away.
