This is a 5 amp lamp, 4 * 12AX7 and 12AU7 * 1.
Front, an input jack for low and behind, an XLR output to connect directly to a sound, an effects loop, and two output jacks to a possible power amp.
Level settings is very simple. knob for a gain, three pots for a quick régalge low, mid and trebble, a 9-band equalizer and a knob for the volume. Parcontre no effect on the preamp. A small chorus or flanger would not hurt ....
UTILIZATION
The configuration is relatively simple and whatever you do the sound of hell, nothing to do with the combos I used before (peavey tko 115, Laney ...) and download the manual online www.ampeg . com is very well done, plain and simple, provided that a minimum understanding of English.
SOUNDS
Ampeg there's no better for rock and this amp is more than recommended for blues, funk and jazz.
I use a Fender Precision Bass equipped with Seymour Duncan pickups, amplifiers MacMah SLX200 (2 * 150 watts RMS) and a cab Hartke VX 412.
The sound is clear and no problem you can leave the bass alone in the middle of the song without losing fishing.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for about 3 months and I never had any problems, repeating as in concert.
It sounds ampeg, bass wins in the presence and the sound is magnificent.
The advantage of a preamp from a conventional amp head is above all the price of course and if you dream ampeg sound without your budget does allow an SVT III pro, this preamp is the ideal solution.
"With experience, you do again this choice ?..." <- Square yes!
