Mine is basic and has no memory max but it is convenient to use because I have enough of a floppy disk to save all the memory.
UTILIZATION
It's simple but lousy. I prefer editing in EMU, it's like that!
What I like most about Akai (MPC or S950) is the ease with which one performs overlapping samples and velocity crossfades.
SOUNDS
It sounds very good in the genre but I prefer my Emax when it comes to his bitch.
When reducing the sampling rate the 950 filter noise and aliasing, it seems.
The time stretch is a classic, slightly connoted "94 'jungle'. ^ ^
Going on the Test Tone worth its weight in peanut I use to make subs, bass, and it is also very nice on agreements with some effects. Simple, raw and strong.
OVERALL OPINION
Sometimes I think the sale to take me another Emax but for now I can not, because I use the test tone often enough.
