Tama Mike Portnoy Signature

. Acquired in September 2003
. Key points that made me choose this snare:
- Double Trigger
- Responsiveness
- Sensitivity
- Clarity of sound
- Awesome power
. Cons:
- Metallic timbre average bill
- Not cast circles (weight gain was he looking for?)
- Snare drum moves a lot during prolonged use
(Set of skins for all perfectionists about 1:30 in studio)
. Compared to (strictly personal opinion):
- Dave Weckl Signature Snare Drum (Yamaha): body but too dull to extraordinary precision
- Steve Gadd Signature Snare Drum (Yamaha): no double trigger, requires a different snare drum as musical atmosphere needs
. Quality / price ratio:
prices in September 2003: approximately € 1,000, satisfactory report.
(I am not the absolute fan of Mike Portnoy
. If it was not a question of money, I would take two rather different snares for my work on the sound rather than one (go to Ray Barretto Korn is not easy;)
