A transistor amp with effects, 100 watts in theory, 2 X 12 "HP, a pedal, FDD technology.

    UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, good clean sound. Move from clean to distortion with the pedal while keeping the same volume is not a problem for me, simply adjust well. The manual is useless.

    SOUNDS

I play metal, surf rock, indie, punk, pop etc, this amp is well suited to these styles. I play with a fender jaguar equipped with a Seymour Duncan Hotrails. The distortion that looks more like a mixture overdrive / distortion suits me perfectly. The clean has a lot of bass, so an adjustment is needed, the other effects are nice. I play for hours with distortion + reverb to make solo surf…

I play for hours with distortion + reverb to make solo surf rock. I have not tested the power (I live in an apartment), but 2 X 50 watts should do the trick.

    OVERALL OPINION

For eight hours, excellent price / quality ratio, I played in on a peavey rage 158 too rotten, so the change is notable. I do it again the same choice if I had the same budget. The only problem is the weight, this amp is super heavy!

edit 2008: Finally I find this amp has too much bass, I have to put the treble and bass thoroughly at least when I play clean, maybe my guitar a lot of bass also possible .. .

It's a transistor amp with a pre-amp but with a 50W stereo output with 2 HP 12 ". There are built-in effects and an outlet for 2x12 or 4x12 HP style or headphones. A footswitch jack to the back and an effects loop with return to mono or stereo.

    UTILIZATION

Configuration is very simple, just take a look at the front, there is no unnecessary buttons, just the basics and it suits me very well. The EQ is very responsive as I think we may well shape the sound that you want. However, I find the gain knob a little too sensitive, but nothing too serious.

    SOUNDS

I play mainly blues, rock, hard rock, and "small" heavy metal and it is really perfect for this. I have a lot of grain that Marshall can be felt from the first chord in saturation. I play it with a Fender Stratocaster and a Gibson Les Paul and restores well the character of each guitar. For cons, I find it just lacks a bit of chest saturated channel, I expected a little better as it is mounted with two HP ... But on the clean channel, the sound is very round, warm, velvety, really love it!

    OVERALL OPINION

I use it only for a week but it's really a good amp to make repeated 'and small scenes. I love the color of the sound that comes out, the grain is really nice Marshall. Before this amp I played a lot of other more or less good amp (peavey studio pro 112, line 6 Bogner, fender fm212, orange and marshall JCM2000 AD30) and I think it's very good amp transistors, although I find it a bit expensive new. The value for money is okay but not great. With the experience and I would do the same budget that choice but with a bit more money I would have liked to take a head lamps used because I think we can not do much better with transistors

    Nice little combo

This company has come out with a tone of different amps for different people. They have amps for every guitarist that is out there. Some sound good and some sound like trash This is an amp that was out for a period of time and then went away for other series amps or other models. This item has some unique features to it.

Not really sure if it workout since they discontinued it. It is two amps in one. You get two 50 watt amps or a stereo amps in one unit. Kind of unique feature. You have several models in this series line but this one was all by itself in this feature. You have several models in this series line but this one was all by itself in this feature. Either way the amp does sound pretty decent for being a solid state amp and those sort of amps don't go over very well with me.

    UTILIZATION

Double the power of the feature loaded, versatile MG50DFX and you get the MG250DFX with its stereo, 50W + 50W, power amp driving 2x12" custom speakers - awesome!

    - Twin footswitchable channels - Clean & Overdrive

    - Independent tone controls for Bass & Treble on each channel

    - Contour Control for dramatic mid sweep and 'scooping'

    - Emulated Line Out jack and Headphone jack

    - CD input which allows you to play along to your favourite discs

    - Built-in Digital Effects - Chorus/Delay, Chorus, Flange and Delay

    - Separate Digital Reverb with level control

    - Series Effects Loop

    - Master Volume

    - 2 x 12" custom-designed speakers

    - FDD (Frequency Dependent Damping)

    - Supplied 2-way footswitch (Clean/Overdrive, DFX on/off)

    SOUNDS

The amp has some decent tone for a solid state amp. It will never compare to a tube amp from Marshall or any other manufacturer, but good enough for practicing purposes. This amp has two channels one dedicate to the cleans tones and the other for distortion and overdrive. The amps clean is surprisingly not that bad while the distortion lacks a lot of beef and punch. But when you kick in the FDD switch you get some of that girth back.

The contour feature is a great feature that Marshall has been implementing in their amps. This control knob essentially dials in and out midrange frequencies to scoop them or beefy them up. This allows you to better dial in our tone with your favorite guitar, Each guitar has a brighter or warmer tone and this allows you to cater it better towards your existing gear.

    OVERALL OPINION

This amp has been long discontinued. You would have to find it on the used market at this point. These are cool little practice amps and they are great with playing with another guitarist. I would recommend this amp to anyone who needs a solid sounding solid state practice amp.

Marshall has come out with scores of amps and only a few have survived and even less than that have been reissued or re-released. This is an amp that was out for a period of time and then went away for other series amps or other models. This item has some unique features to it.

    OVERALL OPINION

These amps have been discontinued for a while now. I have seen a few online retailers still offering these amps new for right around $500. Not a bad price for a two channel amp but not a great price either. You can find much better amps out there for this price. A peavey comes t mind and for a few hundred more you can own a used 6505 or 5150. That has tubes in it and sound phenomenally better that this amp.

I play heavy metal, surf rock, indie, punk, pop, etc, and this amp matches all these music styles. I play a Fender Jaguar equipped with Seymour Duncan Hotrail pickups. I like the overdrive and distortion sound of this amp. The clean channel provides powerful lows but the settings allow you to personalize the sound. I can spend hours with the lead channel and a reverb playing surf rock solos. I haven't tested the output power yet (I live in an apartment) but 2 x 50 watts ought to be enough!

    OVERALL OPINION

I've had it for eight hours and it offers an excellent value for money. I used to play with a Peavey Rage 158 and this new amp is a nice improvement. I would buy it again. The amp's only disadvantage is its weight: it's very heavy!

Update 2008: with a bit more experience, I now find the lows too loud. I have to turn the treble control fully up and the bass control fully down in the clean channel. Although the problem could actually be my guitar...
