Peavey 112 Transtube EFX
Published on 05/31/10 at 15:00This black and red beauty is a very nice amplifier to have. I haven't played any shows with it, but it makes one heck of a practice amplifier.
I bought this amp from a local music shop for around $450.
One of the major attractions of this amplifier is the built in effects. It has all of the knobs and settings that a normal amplifier has, but it also comes with great effects (phaser, flanger, rotary speaker, chorus, funk wah, echo, tremolo). You can pick which effect you want, and how much of it you want. You can have a single distant echo, or many echoes within milliseconds of each other. You can have just a slight tremolo effect, or an extreme one. The amp also comes with a foot switch …Read moreThis black and red beauty is a very nice amplifier to have. The amp also comes with a foot switch which makes it easy to change from a clean sound to a distorted sound and to change back and forth between effects while playing.
My only possible complaint would be that it isn't bigger.
I've lugged this amp around with me to different jam sessions, school events, etc. and it has held up very well. It is still in perfect condition after owning it for about 5 years.
Overall, this is a great amp. It gives you all the standard features of a guitar amplifier but also adds in the cool effects. Buying this amp would be much cheaper than buying a wah pedal, delay pedal, etc. I am very happy that I bought the Peavy 112 EFX

Peavey 112 Transtube EFX
Published on 08/05/05 at 15:00Bought in on ebay for 220 used.
This is an excellent amp. Peavey really does make good, affordable stuff and this is no exception. the distortion is very good and it has plenty of it. The distortion is very versatile and unlike most overdrive/dis pedals I don't have to crank the drive up to 9 or 10 to be happy. At 5 it's very heavy. I like effects but not so much to buy a bunch a pedals. This has about 8 effects or so and they are fun and simple, especially the digital delay and phaser and the funk wah.
I love it, perhaps make it a bit smaller. Some 112's of other brands I've seen are smaller and lighter with the same power. Neverhteless, an excellent amp.

Seems fine, haven't had it long enough but peavey is reputable and ive owned others without problems.
Excellent distortion(and I've had 10-15 distrion pedals over 20 years!) and fun effects. Good, easy layout.

It has a few different sections in terms of parameters - there is a clean channel, an overdrive channel, and then another section for all types of effects including reverb, delay, and rotary.
UTILIZATION
The configuration of the Peavey Transtube 112 EFX is very easy to follow even though there are a good amount of parameters. The effect sections can sometimes be a bit confusing at first, but once you play with it a bit it won't take too long to get used to it. The effect sections can sometimes be a bit confusing at first, but once you play with it a bit it won't take too long to get used to it. It is pretty easy to get a good sound from this, but if you are looking for a clean tone you have to shut off all of the effects as it will come on with effects on. I don't have a manual for the Peavey Transtube 112 EFX, but it is easy enough to use that you shouldn't need it if you don't have one.
SOUNDS
I have used the Peavey Transtube 112 EFX both for acoustic and electric guitar, both with good results. I usually use this amp with a Martin acoustic/electric guitar or a Fender Strat. While I am a fan of the clean signal from this amp, I'm not a huge fan of the overdrive or the built in effects. While they are okay, I have other options that I would much rather use than the effects from this amp.
OVERALL OPINION
I've been using the Peavey Transtube 112 EFX for about six months and have found it to be a good sounding amp that is probably suited best for live shows or practicing. It has a pretty warm tone to it, especially for an amp that won't cost you too much money. The effects are nice to have, if only even to just mess around with. Overall, the Peavey Transtube 112 EFX is a good amp for intermediate players.See less00
