« Fender Standard Fat Strat »

My wife purchased this new through a fundraising auction for $350, supplied from local music store (Flood Music). She bid on this just because she knew I wanted a Strat, but didn't know what type. She liked the color, Midnight Blue.

Sweet sound using the humbucker pickup for lead riffs. I don't have to play it hard to sound good. I can stash the pick and finger pluck for more mellow sounds using the neck and center pickups. I play it mainly in our church's worship team, so no grunge sounds, but it rocks when it needs to.

A little more noise is noticed when single pickups are selected. I had some problems with the intonation at first, which Flood Music handled. I'm used to playing a 12-string acoustic, so it took awhile to get used to the lighter string action and using a pick again (I don't use a pick on the 12-string).

I haven't found anything bad about the build or finish. The dark blue/purple finish would show imperfections if there were any. It's pretty solid and stays in tune quite well.

I would buy another Fat Strat if I ever lost this one. I like the sound of this one and the general feel of a Strat. I first played a friend's Strat when I was in grade school. 30 years later, I'm glad my wife got me one!
