Always has to be said. Start equipped with an easel Wilkinson of mechanical locking and three Lace Sensor pickups. A five-position selector, a tone, a booster medium, one volume. Mine in 1993 and has a maple fingerboard.
UTILIZATION
The handle is very nice, like most of the strata. The microphone is quite quiet. The vibrato is better than the standard Start, but beware, it is necessary to use ropes to pull low. Otherwise, it hangs in the roller nut when pulled vibrato and tuning up. In addition, it is sometimes difficult to pass the strings, especially the high E. The mechanical lock is a joy. You put the rope, the aim and it is alone. The Nut holds the strings, making the head more refined.
There should be a simpler system for the nut. It's the little flat, especially as the vibrato is excellent. It is similar to those of the Jeff Beck model apparently.
SOUNDS
Sounds including those that we know well, even if the Lace Sensor (unfairly maligned) are rounder and warmer than the current noiseless. For blues, it's great even though I prefer a Les Paul. The tone controls are effective and good versatility. The TBX is handy when there is a lack of mediums. The comfort can play longer without fatigue. I use this guitar with different tube amps. I love the neck pickup and neck position-medium. For cons, I use less and less acute micro alone.
OVERALL OPINION
I own this guitar for six years. At the time, I had bought for the ball as it is more ergonomic and lighter than my Les Paul (six hours standing with the standard, it hurts). I think it is a good compromise between the vintage and pretty good quality hardware with the nuance Nut is improved. Excellent Start in my opinion.
