All user reviews for the Jackson JS Dinky JS35DK

The JS35 is a bit of a rarity that I don't think I've ever seen before. It's a guitar that has a 24 fret neck and sharkfin inlays, along with a licensed floyd rose bridge instead of the normal JS30 specs. The guitar has the following specs:

Alder body
Maple bolt-on neck with rosewood fretboard
22 jumbo frets with sharkfin inlays
Licensed floyd rose bridge
Two humbucker configuration
One volume, one tone
Three way switch

UTILIZATION

The guitar itself is put together decently, but it's about on par with this caliber of guitar. The guitar itself had some weight to it, and I'm not a big fan of guitars that weigh a lot. I find that they're dead weight more than anything else. The frets on this were a bit iffy. The ends weren't sharp, but the frets weren't level. I wasn't able to achieve the action I was looking for. On top of that, they weren't totally crowned. They had a bit of this flatness on top of them. A little more attention to the frets would have been nice.

SOUNDS

The guitar has some very average sounding pickups. The bridge pickup itself is a typical JB clone, but it never achieves that great JB bite, nor does it have the clarity that the JB tends to have. This one sounds pretty dull but has some harsh top end on it. The neck pickup is probably some sort of 59 clone or something. It's nothing like the 59, though. It's a bit bright, and doesn't have that warmth I like to look for. I'm a fan of big, fat neck pickups, and this thing just wasn't doing it for me, even with the tone knob turned off.

OVERALL OPINION

This is another guitar that is a beginner guitar, but it's somewhat decent. If you can find one of these, it might be worth checking out, but I think there are much better guitars out there for the money, especially on the used market. In short, save your money for something better and don't waste your time on this.
