« Peavey Raptor EXP plus »
Published on 12/31/02 at 15:00I got my Peavey guitar on August 10th, 2002, from a music shop called 'Select Guitars' in Rowayton, CT. I'd originally intended to buy a Strat, but the shop only had two of them (one was a piece-of-crap Squier, and the other was the Jimi Hendrix signature), and I couldn't afford either one, so I bought the Peavey instead. It only cost about $150, so it was pretty cheap. Then I played it at a friend's house and drove his family through the roof, so i started to play it even more, to the extent that my fingers started to bleed (I don't like to use picks).
It's got better fret access than the Strat, it has a Humbucker in the bridge position, the tremolo arm is just as good as that of a Strat, and it sounds awesome, even on low volume settings. And did I mention that it didn't cost much?
Unfortunately, it needs to be retuned whenever you use the tremolo. The tuners suck-if you twist them so much as a millimeter too far, the string will break. Also, the jack isn't positioned like it would be on a Strat-if i drop it, the amp lead is broken beyond repair.
When I got it, it was brand new, but I've broken it in, so to speak. Aside from a little scuff-mark on the peghead, it was in mint condition.
As long as I've got this Peavey guitar, I'll be free of the obsession that everyone has with Fender and Gibson products. On a scale of one to ten, I give the Peavey Raptor Plus EXP a twelve!
