« It's dated, but it's cool »
Published on 07/23/12 at 11:45This is a compressor / preamp, very vintage with a little oxidized connections. It connects XLR.
UTILIZATION
Very simple, basically two buttons to do most. The release and the threshold is adjusted via a screw, but once set up, I use the imput gain to be more precise adjustment.
SOUND QUALITY
In fact, the equipment has a little something special, it's true. But this is not really desirable for you. Let me explain: it has an interesting grain but also lots of distortion and background noise. If we want to own a production well, it is avoided. If you want to do something dirty, that's fine. And then, the attack time is intensely long for what I do, not adapted.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for ten years, this is the only device of its kind vintage that I've experienced. Now I work rather digital, so no, I do not racheterais something like that. I'd rather go with something more transparent and robust as an avalon, for example.
