« Very good machine »
Published on 12/30/11 at 06:462 channel compressor very classic with a small gate.
The parameters are comprehensive: Threshold / Ratio / Attack / Release / Output gain. For the gate is a threshold and a switch to determine the release (slow or fast.)
It also has a limited summary. (Just a threshold setting)
Note also a Stereo Link switch.
Connectivity levels 2 and IN 2 Out Side chain per channel.
There are two versions, one with I / O and one with XLR I / O TRS.
Also note that there is the model DL251, a little more, it has no gate but on the other hand has a mode "Enhance" that can flatter the top of the spectrum (an interesting snare or voice) and has a switch to get the knee to "Soft" to "Hard" (the Knee of the 241 being "soft")
UTILIZATION
Could not be more simple from the moment it is known to use a compressor.
For beginners this model is not bad because it helps to understand what each parameter.
I have not read the manual.
SOUND QUALITY
Comp is a very good in its price range. It works on all sources.
Of course this is not a Distressor or another comp to 1500 euros per channel. But it's the taf. I personally prefer the BSS DPR 402 for example.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for 6 years. In the room where I work there have had a dizaine.Nous DPR402 time but we've replaced those here (241 and 251) because they are more reliable. As for the sound after it's about gout.J 'adheres well to me. I have one in my home studio that I use regularly, and sometimes takes him live if the room or I will not be well equipped.
I tried as compressors. In this price range is what is done best with the DBX 160. (But forget everything ... 1046/166/266)
Used can be found at attractive prices. If you do not need the gate looking for is more a more complete 251-level settings.
