The Rectified Leveler is based on the LA2A optical compressor technology, with added tube/solid-state-switchable rectifier stage. It uses a Kenetek T4B optical cell, NOS paper in oil capacitors and five NOS tubes. Jack connectors are Neutrik and the compressor is hand wired point to point.
The faceplate provides the classical LA2A controls (Limit/Compress switch, meter, gain and threshold), plus a Vintage/Modern switch for choosing the type of compression, the first reproduces the LA2A characteristics while the second features a low-cut. A second Tube/Silicon switch allows for choosing between a smaller and more up front diode sound sound or a more opened 6×4 tube rectifier-like sound.
The Rectified Leveler will be available on April 21st and can be pre-ordered now at www.lightningboyaudio.com for $2800. A first limited edition of 5 units features NOS UTC transformers, the next run will be equipped with input and output Sowter transformers.
