UTILIZATION

If it does not really take place, the setting with the buttons is not easy. So, I do sound design only with SoundDiver, which allows you to import all banks virus patches (all patches work, even those from TI, the virus simply ignores the settings that he does not know => so the sound patch should no longer be the same
It is super reliable, except in multiplayer mode, or there are some bugs (I never use this mode)
The multi-single mode is a wonder in the context of a home studio: once set the patch in single mode, it has 16 tracks!

SOUNDS

The virus is very versatile and coexists well with analog, guitars, ...
It shines in well péchus lead and bass greasy, moog type and the typical numeric pad. It has good bass with his sub, but not warm.
We can make him do such analog pad (juno, Oberheim, ...), digital pianos, organ, as well as pure digital (ppg, Q, ...)
Compared to IT, all viruses have the same tone, IT much better integration with the computer (the audio usb, for example) and additional opportunities. However, this virus has all you need and is well worth the TI in terms of sound, and for 4 times cheaper! (Compared to the snow)

Compared to micron, microkorg, the nova (especially new mini and micro), I think the virus has more character
Compared to blofeld, it is a little less powerful but personally, I find it buried in terms of grain, lack of low blofeld is a true default

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it not too expensive and it is the best quality / price ratio on the market for a digital synth
I use it on all my songs, electro, pop, rock, ...
This is a synth that I will never part ...

UTILIZATION

Edition dpart some complex, but many can notament the arpgiateur very complete, with original rhythm patterns and ditable.

SOUNDS

Gniaux sounds for those who love the big bold sound a little dirty (bass, tablecloths, solo). It's not subtlety and that's just what I wanted (unlike my Nord Lead 3 does all shy ct.

I pass now with a VST PowerCore, on which I will buy the Virus plug: I like!

I would add: this rack is a 'mix' of viruses and b. .. the middle just makes it! It has 2 oscilloscope and an additional sub, 2 filters series / parallel, three LFOs and three envelopes. The effect section is minimalist but largely sufficient to the tones produced! The bad thing in my opinion: it lacks two out charge! Given the quality of sound output would have 6 ts pretty good but do not complain: it has 2 inputs and then must they sell the more expensive models too!

The system a 'matrix' programming based on the Waldorf's cousin, is a bit more useful than a simple range of Waldorf. At the beginning you get lost, but eventually got used to it very quickly and the menus and the organization is rather clear and can be programmed quickly and well!

SOUNDS

The is the slap! I have a machinery accordingly in what is a few synthsa modeling of different brands (Waldorf, Clavia, Novation) but none excel autentic rack this little red! The overall sound is aggressive, rough and yet punchy and capable of a certain roundness ... rather thick! Yet the number of oscilloscope is reduced (2 +1 sub) but the results are impressive thickness! By far this is the closest analogue of a real! The programming of the oscilloscope is a real success on Access to synth hat: they seem alive, not static, as repetitive and on digital synths, always on the move giving the impression of thickness I love so much! Filters when they are a true one 'butcher'! Capable of handling finesse peuevnt they reveal is the opposite of impressive wildness! And the number of possible variations and types allows a real versatility. Then the envelopes: lightning fast! couraging with kicks to the synths are a rare violence ... even on analog BAR! Another highlight from my point of view: the analog boost. This effect can give the mass in the low / medium low without making the sound 'pasty' and 'muddy' sounds ... instead start a rumble of a land-based way! Yet the sound of departure is not very heavy in the bass (unlike some real analog).

on the other hand in terms of ground ets I'm not transcend ... It happens to excellent results, but my taste is mostly in the leads and bass that excels! The modulation matrix n ' is not very thorough and grain pushes me to do sounds violent and get into it rather than creamy and things are ...

OVERALL OPINION

Given the price at which I is acquired (450E) and the systematic use of the machine I can only recommend it especially if you have a Drum and Bass, Industrial, Machinery-CORE, finally ... if you are in finesse!

Without laughing a real BOMB! Moreover compares to newer models (virus Indigo2 and xl) I found that the grain silent a little different: less fine and detailed and can be rougher ... In any case for the use I have adapted it over I will probably have broken my piggy bank to buy one of these newer models to give a little brother!

It's a nice rack red with 5 assignable knobs and push buttons for accessing sound libraries and menus.
It is mutitimbrale 16 channels and has an effect section can be somewhat rougher compared to what is done today, but good quality and can be quite usable.

There are 8 banks of 128 sounds but Seume 2 are programmable.

It corresponds to the generation B Virus Even former product is already old but still sounds very honorably compared to more recent products of the brand. There are many banks of sounds available on the Access to banks and even newer products fit smoothly on Miss Virus rack.

UTILIZATION

It is easy to implement with all PCs, sequencer, keyboard master and producer. The edition was through the small LCD screen is possible but inconvenient for editions of complex sounds. It is better to go through an editor because there are a large number of parameters.
Queques glitches to operate in multitimbral sometimes with a sequencer, but still have a solution.

SOUNDS

The range of possible sounds is quite large and can accommodate a variety of styles although its role is in emulation of synthesizer sounds Anloga for electronic music. it does sound a bit organic, deep well filled with a mix. Some factory sounds are a bit muddy and lacks punch and originality. But there are some very good banks with very sound and dynamic pechus that have nothing to envy in his more recent generations.

the factory sounds are often too effective but it is the case for many machines. A good programmer can make some very beautiful sounds of the machine that will remain. I have a Roland and 2 Novations ilcompete well and sound very clear with a spectrum of Novations a little more ettoffé.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6 or 7 years and I do not part with it. It has a beautiful personality would hate that some may not be. But it sounds like a virus and quite close to the most recent models.
I use it in a home studio and has never caused problems. Reliable, bug-free, fairly robust construction in metal housing, it has 2 inputs and 2 outputs. Can the user's browser to process external signals and integrated function vocoder.
