At the possibilities of synthesis, all the ancestor is faithful, with 2 oscillators, a low-pass Fitr, a high-pass, 2 envelopes, etc. Modernity brings a lot of convenient functions, which for the most part, do not exist on the Odyssey memory (128 factory + 128 user programs), polyphonic (12 channels) between audio jacks MIDI effects section. Unexpected bonus, the kind Fitr "Moog" t had created for the emulation of the Minimoog (Minimax) is also about the Prodyssey as an alternative replenishment of the ARP filter.
Finally, the USB connection allows the connection with the computer which can contrler all parameters via software provided.
A reget despite everything, this module is multitimbral, which quickly reveals frustrating.
Finally, the assembly is a robust mtallique case with pretty wooden sides. A very beautiful object!
USE
The Prodyssey resumes the facade of the Odyssey architecture is screen printing to the "old" and the key is manipulated via potentiometers type "slider" that recall those of ann 70.'re so everything is easy to access, direct and very tactile.
The documentation is too succinct but we can very well do without. I sometimes come across malfunctions when I use the USB connection, but I find little Gnant: I hardly use the Software except to save my patches.
SONORITS
This is not the genuine ARP but what is sounds great! In absolute terms, the sounds are excellent, rather in the style "aggressive" ... We will struggle to produce truly fine tablecloths, as the beast rather gifted for leads that tear the bass, the big brass sounds or how to say ... sounds from another galaxy.
The sound palette does not cover all needs, but what this machine can do, it does very well. The possibilities of exprimentations are a pleasure and retrieves the motion of the pioneers!
Finally, the filter types "Moog" has its charm and allows accder the subtleties between the ARP world and Moog.
NOTICE GLOBAL
I love this synth. Obviously, not all has been the ARP Odyssey with indescribable charm of electronics of yesteryear, but in return we gain polyphony, MIDI, the memory, stability etc. .. We can always say that a good emulation software returns to the same. In theory, perhaps, but in practice this bote brings direct and sensual touch that makes all the difference. It knows no latency, requires no configuration and sends an unflinchingly his monstrous demand. So, I did not feel the same as with a soft. Frankly, an ARP Odyssey polyphonic MIDI, with a Moog filter as a bonus, we must admit that this is interesting ...
