Beginners
-> 6U rack (I prefer to use it in position "desk" because much more convenient)
-> 2 sound banks of 127 each, but it is a machine to create its own sounds
-> Editing relatively simple, not necessarily need a PC to edit sounds (unless you want to save the settings for all sounds, for my part I work with an atari for MIDI and I record my sounds by dumping )
-> Connectors complete and correct (except for the headphone jack that Novation has a jack 3 "5, which is still disappointing)
UTILIZATION
-> General config rather simple
-> Editing sounds takes a few minutes to understand the beast
-> Manually is not too bad (but better still use the doc + English which is often clear, this is valid for most bikes)
SOUNDS
-> Electro and techno sounds
-> Correct general effects
-> Good momentum
-> Black dot: no drum kit
OVERALL OPINION
-> It's been two years since I use the nova: frankly, good machine ... but have other bikes to create a piece
-> It's a synth sounds rather typed, ie sounds very electronic (we like it or not) and that there is here. However, the ergonomics, the synthesis, the dynamics are very satisfactory. For those looking for a synth "sounds good" to begin to really sound synthesis, the Nova largely filled this role (and goes beyond). The bad thing (which is up to me) : no drum kit (although there are 2 or 3 sounds kick, hi-hat, snare ...); but you can easily recreate the sounds of this type (warning!! there are 6 voice polyphony of the nova: If we create such a sound kick, a snare and a sound of his hi-hat, there are only 3 channels available, for example a bass sound, a sound of water and a sound of "synthetic" .
-> Conclusion: The nova is great for electronic sounds, but when you want to add a rhythm or other sounds (eg piano, guitar, etc.), there must be other machines.
