Peavey tube amp 50 watts RMS
2 channels with bright switch on clean channel and boost volume / saturation for the channel distortion
HP control resonance and texture (amp in Class A or A / B)
spring reverb (very bad, and no insulation!)
effects loop
HP output for external 16 ohm
guarantee of 5 Ansil weighs 23 kilos, which is reasonable.
For cons, the footswitch is not included, which is rather unfortunate <img class="smiley" src="/images/audiofanzine/interface/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt="" />

UTILIZATION

Nothing really revolutionary on the front, use is nothing fancy, it's simple and classic, not need the manual.
Use level, the big problem is the equalization of channel distortion, which does not really effectively change the sound of the amp. The HP also limits the amp itself.
Finally, the switch A / AB does not have much, a small difference in volume and grain, no nothing to shit on the walls. As against the frequency control of the HP is quite nice, and allows to vary the tone of the amp.

SOUNDS

The VK is quite versatile, can play a lot of different styles, even if it is not predestined to metal: lack of bass, gain, precision. Too bad I play mostly in this style This is the clear sound that surprised me most about this amp, really nice, friendly, with good balance, while being faithful to the signal of your scratch. If you play mostly in the clear, this amp is worth it. In crunch is as bad as, pretty well anything vintage. Finally in heavy distortion, the HP shows its limits: blatant lack of precision, frequencies that are poorly staged you can not have a muffled sound or loud: the boost, the only way to have a real big distortion adds a lot of treble, and equalization of the amplifier is aps accurate enough to fill all this. Amp its pretty clear then, but the rot really disto HP (jme request anyway it is a V30, but hey ...). A high volume, however, the quality of the amplification of Bouzin catches a little thing, you end up with one's really not bad!

OVERALL OPINION

The price is nice for an all-tube, but only if you play light or small OD or distortion. It's been two and a half years that I have this amp, and I do not have that choice would do, because I play mostly the metal ever since. The distortion of VK is disappointing for all the styles a little violent. Note that I think with a change in HP, this amp would gain enormously in quality!
