Best value: Excellent
Two-channel tube preamp rack. An entry, a footswitch jack to control channels, one output line out, a headphone output and finally the recording ...
Clean channel: volume, tone
Lead channel: gain, bass, treble, volume.
A master volume.

UTILIZATION

For my part I use this preamp in a home studio for ten years.
I saw a friend use it live in a club, connected directly to the console and it amazed me.
Some time later, I found occasion to 1200 francs and I jumped on it.
The recording output is actually the best I've found. SansAmp or better than any multi-effect.

SOUNDS

I put the preamp in my home studio, recording the output is connected to the console (without corrections), I insert a small multi-purpose in the auxiliary for the reverb-time-modulation) and everything is rendered on a small hi-fi system with two surround speakers. What happiness! I sound regardless of volume, even with headphones. I mix with a CD or PC and j'm'éclate. I bump my tracks and quiet at home anytime, even when my girlfriend sleeps.
It's simple I never use the amp at home and the neighbors always make me a big smile when I crossed the staircase ... (Oh, well you're a guitarist who m'disent, but you never hear? "It's normal that I have my Spitfire j'réponds ... ... and it includes not normal! For them a Spitfire c is a plane or a convertible car of the 70s) ... I digress.
The clean sound is actually very straight and does not saturate. Me is what I like. Above I play country music, picking, jazz or blues and unique tone of knob is effective enough to pass a sound less brilliant gloss. With a semi-hollow sound is great.
When you engage the overdrive channel, the lamp will remind you. The sound is warm with a real grain tube, vintage-style (but again that's what I love). My setting is as follows: gain to 7 to 7.5 bass, treble 6, Volume 7, MA 8. The record is superb with a double or a powerful microphone in the bridge position. Some regret the lack of correction of mediums but personally, for the music I play (ie hard rock pop 60's to 80's) is perfect.
The Master is useful for balancing the two channels.
My lamps are original and are doing very well. I wanted to change one day and I went to Paris VHM. The guy (Fred I think), super nice and knowledgeable I am saying that these preamp tubes lasted thousands of hours and as long as I noticed no deterioration of sound I had no need to change.

OVERALL OPINION

I tested the preamp once on an amp, it was not bad, but not enough to change my setup "pedal tube-tube amp.
In conclusion super preamp in a home studio, the real tube sound even over headphones, ten years of happiness. I even bought another Two years ago for 100 euros, which I keep as backup in case, say it!
Super value for money in hand and more is French! It must be said.
