Thermionic Culture has gain-boosted its Rooster two-channel preamp in this new generation that is expected at retailers this month.
The Rooster 2 retains most of the features of the first version, but changes were made to make it “sound better”, according to Thermionic Culture.
The gain was increased by 8dB so that you can now use the preamp with any type of microphone, and DI basses and guitars. This change also affects the Attitude (distortion) control that will be more aggressive.
The EQ section was also boosted by a few decibels in order to bring more bite.
Last, the 12AT7 input valve was replaced with a 12AX7 model and the higher input impedance ensures better compatibility with condenser microphones.
The Rooster 2 will be available in the next few days for the price of £1845 excl. taxes. Details are expected soon at www.thermionicculture.com.
