I bought this card to introduce me to Pro Tools I needed for my job.
I thought I use to work on the mix of projects from Avid and record music.
I have a toshiba satellite.

(Note post: yes, with a mac, it changes everything, it works now, but apparently digidesign is renowned for its incompatibility with Toshiba laptop)

UTILIZATION

Laborious installation on PC, many crashes bike version "blue screen", I managed to install pro tools after I do not know how many hours and some sort of miracle, because even according to all indications, my pc wanted nothing to do. Updates are provided from the installation CD. And yet I am not my first installation of gear or software, I had already done the same for ProTools HD, as well as a dozen different sound card, USB and firewire.

Incompatibilities? Ah yes, a good package. Already the system digidesign, too exclusive, especially with ProTools LE, which of course does not accept any vst (note a posteriori: if so, the vst pass, when using a wrapper such as VST to RTAS Fxpansion ... paying well on) and does not import OMF to Avid (must be purchased - again! - an extra plug, the "DigiTranslator").
So very disappointed.

And then it's Pro Tools ... bah say that designers have forgotten the meaning of the word "design" in the name of their company ... It's not really as neat interface, ca almost looks like a soft laid Windows 95 and is still as unwelcoming and intuitive. PT is certainly a very powerful program and very stable / reliable when it works but we do not control without a minimum of training, thankfully that you book an introductory DVD (with an absolutely wonderful song ... humm. ..) But woe to you if you do not speak English!

GETTING STARTED

Despite all this looks very stable. Updates of the PT are provided. It also provides us with a ton of plugins that look very nice ... but of course these are only demos and eval versions ....

OVERALL OPINION

I've had two months, and I will hasten to sell it quickly, I have absolutely no use now, I work in ProTools HD taff, pure and what is the home studio I am a fan sequencer Tracktion as soft, simple, intuitive, neat and complete.

What I like most: the case is nice, really, the DVD of initiation, the USB cable.

What I like least: Everything Else: Protools LE and its limitations, the installation of hazardous pc, the mouth of foutage commercial plugins available, the lack of compatibility, the exclusive use of a machine for PT only in short ....

I had a few other sound cards more convenient and efficient than this one, USB, FireWire, and I regret having bought this Mbox2 that does nothing at a price too high - basically, you pay the soft much more than your card itself.
