Value For Money :
Excellent
6 tracks for recording via USB
Use: Travel
Setup: Compaq 915 laptop pc (athlon 1800+) chipset ALI / 512 ram
USE
I had major installation problems, but one week later it all worked wonderfully.
Calling the hotline is of no use...They don't know how to help you: Sort things out by yourself.
To cut a long story short, I had to do the following to get it working with my setup:
Install XP service pack 1 (which I had already planned to do), update the motherboard drivers (although I don't think it's that useful) and especially CHANGE the USB CABLE!!! Yes, that's the trick. It's not stable with the included cable and can't even be installed with it. I realized that after trying 5 or 6 different cables. THE SHORTEST CABLE IS THE BEST (a 3ft USB cable is perfect). But nobody ever told me that (they even told me these cards work with Athlon processors, which is false). My problems had to do with the somewhat lousy compaq USB ports.
What's more, you don't need an external PSU. IT WORKS.
OPERATION
Stable drivers if the configuration is okay.
Cubase with virtual synths.
Latency: Right now, I can do with 20 ms, although you can get better results, but I prefer to avoid any crackles. Otherwise, I think you can get it down to 8 ms.
Number of tracks: I have to test it, but I think it holds its promises.
As long as the installation is stable, it works fine. (BUT a short USB CABLE IS MANDATORY)
OVERALL OPINION
Excellent value for money.
Careful: It only supports two tracks at 96khz.
As for 96 khz /24 bits :::::: It's way too much to ask of this soundcard coupled with a Athlon laptop (at least that's why I think)
