I assume you want to know what gear you'll need too compose?
Roland- yamaha-Korg-Novation-Virus etc..........This is about hardware.
As for software, there's too much vst's so you'll have to try out a few demo's in a music store. It's about budget and personal taste mainly.
And the rest is about inspiration and hard work I guess.

There are 2 versions of reason.

Reason Adapted which is included with several production packages and Reason 2.5 which is the full blown version.

Reason is suitable for many styles of music and lots of techno artists use it.
