SongStarter is described as “a different approach to music production on the desktop.” Starting with a beat, you can record into a live looper using the collection of built-in instruments and build up the basics of a song.
Following up with last year’s SodaSynth for Chrome, they’re offering a version of SongStarter that runs inside Google Chrome, allowing you to make music in your browser. SongStarter for Chrome includes the live looping workflow, the ability to download your songs as WAVE, and direct upload to SoundCloud. (The desktop version adds session loading/saving, drag and drop MIDI export to DAWs, and MIDI keyboard support, along with higher quality, uncompressed instruments and beats.)
Availability:
SongStarter is available now for Windows, Mac OS X, and Google Chrome for free during the beta period. Oscillicious are also accepting pre-orders, and are offering a free copy of BeatCleaver with every SongStarter pre-order, when it ships.
