The 2014 edition that Korg unveils today is available in three 88, 73 and 61-key models, the first two with a Hammer Action 3 keybed, while the 61-key is semi-weighted. Also new on this new Kronos is its color touchscreen display with parameter tap and drag support. You’ll also note the wood sides, gold plated jack connectors and the rear vented port.
It is equipped with the third version of Kronos OS, but it retains the 9-engine architecture from the previous model, with improved functionality : Korg added to the SGX engine a 9GB Berlin Grand piano with una corda samples and the string sympathetic resonance works on all the pianos.
New sound libraries have also been added, including a Best Of from KaPro who has created sounds for the Kronos line in the past.
Among the notable enhancements, a Set List mode allows for resizing the text and enter text via the virtual QWERTY keyboard or a USB ASCII external keyboard. A color code is available for the Set List entries and the user can choose the number of entries to be displayed.
Korg included to the Combination and Sequencer modes meters displaying on the new touchscreen and you can edit Programs within a Combi. Last, the search has been improved.
