Takes a lil time but so does every peice of machinery. I recomend getting the dvd manual instead of reading the manual because sometimes u need the visual of the screen when trying to learn.
Its aight. Cool for me but watch out for ur freinds who just bang those keys and pads.

Great. just make sure ur using balanced cables and the thing is bangin.

Lovin this thing. possibilities are endless and with the skip bacc sampling feature u never lose an idea in ur music creating process. The screen is also a blessing in my opinion.

Especially for someone (like myself) who tends to do a lot of work on it late at night, in the dark. 16 illuminated velocity sensitive pads, feel great and are excellent for laying drums, or putting together sample based tracks. Not as big as the pads on an MPC, but they still definitely hold their own. Skip-back sampling is a feature I've come to depend on. USB connectivity for MIDI and file transfer. Unfortunately you have to switch between file transfer mode and MIDI mode, which is somewhat of an inconvenience. Compatible with Roland SRX boards. This expandibility was a major selling point for me.

Plug it in, and you're off. Its as simple as that. Anything you can't figure out on your own will be explained, in detail, in the manual.
Although it stays in my basement studio 99% on the time, I have taken this to live shows, and its still in perfect condition. Never had any problems with it, and it seems unlikely I ever will (unless someone else comes in and starts messing with my gear).
SOUNDS
How can you go wrong with Roland sounds? The patches sound great out of the box, and can be made even better with a little bit of tweaking.
OVERALL OPINION
Its my baby. I'll sacrifice my first born for to save it.

The fantom is so easy to use its so user friendly, and everything is a zap once you get use to it. The work flow is great. But if you can make sure you get some sort of extra ram because it doesn't hold too much audio. It's song mode features and live performance capabilities are great as well.
I've had the fantom for about six months and I travel with it alot, from studio to studio, and back home every other day. Just as long as you treat it with care, you'll be surprised of its durability.

The sound in the fantom are fairly decent. The drums are sick. With the re-sampling function on it, it's better to just make your own kits of drums anyways. The Strong points on it are the easy to use sequencer, and the ability to automate. I also like how easy they make to to manipulate every single track and to be able to route the effects the way you want. The fantom to me is much greater than a mpc anyday I feel. With the touch sensitive pads, and the sampling capabilities, and its so user friendly, you should choose the fantom.
OVERALL OPINION
I love this thing. Its one of them things were ur out some wher and all you want to do is get back to it to continue to better your productions and learn something new on it as well. I love it!
