Being a workstation, you got everything aswell as some nice added features. The sequencer is a bit hard to figure out at first but once you get the hang of it, theres no problems. Everything in the sequencer mode is routed through the mixer which is nice and makes stuff easier. Job Mode in each area allows you to do nearly anything to any part of the music.

Not easy to start with, but once you get the hang of everything its easy and quick to use. The small screen makes it a bit harder too but again once you know the layout its fine.

Big and pretty heavy so its a solid construction. The keys are very good quality, aswell as all the buttons and pitch/mod wheels.

    SOUNDS

The flute, string, brass, piano and organ voices all sound real. Most the basses are nice and the synth sounds are good enough to use in any genre. The drums are good, alot of nice 'phat' kicks and acoustic snares, great for hip hop. Some good percussion too and lots of good FX sounds.

    OVERALL OPINION

I love this because it does everything in one box, which is what i need. You can make a beat start to finish from scratch. Definately worth the money and i hope i will be using it for a long time.

FEATURES ARE O.K. BUT THE PATTERN/VOICE MODE BRINGS THIS RATING DOWN

    Price paid

    1500

    UTILIZATION

FAIRLY EASY TO USE, IF YOU THINK LIKE THE GUY WHO CREATED THIS BOARD.

THIS IS OUTSTANDING. THE DAMN THING IS SO HEAVY AND STURDY THAT I WOULD BE SHOCKED TO SEE A BUMP DAMAGE IT.

    SOUNDS

THE SOUND QUALITY IS GREAT! IN VOICE MODE THAT IS. IF YOU HERE SOMETHING IN VOICE MODE THAT YOU LIKE AND THEN WANT TO GO AND RECORD IT YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO GO INTO PATTERN MODE WHICH WILL NOT SOUND AS GOOD AS VOICE MODE BECAUSE VOICE MODE HAS SAMPLE'S. WOW THAT WAS SMART!

WELL, AFTER I FIGURED OUT HOW I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO USE IT(BUY A MPC) THEN I BECAME MORE WILLING TO USE IT BECAUSE LIKE I SAID BEFORE THE SOUNDS SOUND REAL GOOD IN VOICE MODE. SO I RECOMMEND TO BUY A SEQUENCER THEN YOUR ON YOUR WAY.

There is a ton of features missing from this piece. The sequencer, which was what I bought it for, is amazingly lacking. The only thing that it is VERY good at is letting you choose sounds (relatively) easily from the internal sound banks. However, the editing facilities are horrible (to me, anyway). I hate that I have to extract a part in order to work on a single note; the Job functions won't let you, for instance, isolate a particular MIDI note. All of the Edit Job commands work globally on an entire track. (What I was saying about Extract means that you CAN "extract" a MIDI note, over the range of an entire track, but you must move that one set of notes to another track.) This…

This is a BIG time kluge, in my view.

Well... as for "easy," I guess that it is. But the problem is that you have sacrificed a lot of power by having things so easy.

It is built like a tank. This is the only part of this review upon which the Motif gets an A+.

    SOUNDS

I liked the sounds, although this isn't why I bought it. I have since caused myself no end of headaches by buying a second ROMpler though, so I'm biased against sample-playback.

    OVERALL OPINION

I don't love this piece. I feel bad about it, because I wish that I DID love it. Oh well. You'll have to read some of my other reviews to get a sense of what I DO love. Thanks!

There are plenty of features on this board that I probably will never gain complete knowledge with.

    Price paid

    $1,100

    UTILIZATION

I got this item in, never having even touched one, set it up, and in the matter of 20 minutes had a beat done in the Pattern Mode. So therefore, i feel it is VERY easy to operate.

    SOUNDS

The sounds are amazing, plain and simple. The ability to make your own voices is nice as well.

    OVERALL OPINION

This thing is built like a tank. I travel with it ever other weekend and there isn't even a scratch on it. Everything is very solid on it.

Well, if it cooked dinner then I really wouldn't be in much need for a wife. Just joking ladies.
