See previous opinion. A good little pedal to use as a simple analog EBS knows them.

I sold my previous pedals EBs (Overd and preamp) because ultimately it is often too transparent a fan of fortification sounds like me, but for a compressor, I did not try something else.

UTILIZATION

As always in the black series of EBS in the Simplicity is key.
OK then you can not adjust the attack or the release of more expensive compressor so it depends on what one seeks.

I use it mainly on the position "tubesim" and that's enough. The sound of my Rickenbacker is "magnified" but respected. I have not yet dug mode "MULTICOMP" but I'll do a test by pushing the threshold of the treble and lowering it on the bass. At the same time, I think MULTICOMP mode is more suited to a modern game (for example slap).

Unscrew the plate (I do not use a battery so I did not need to do often) to set the Thresholds, it's not super convenient, but ... it is supposed to do it once and for all.

SOUND QUALITY

I wanted to erase some violent attacks and make sure that the Rickenbacker better by repeating (not tried live yet). Why I'm thrilled.

I'm not a fan of low compression. I never used the compressor internal amps. For cons, I always recorded my bass DI with a compressor inlet (the "leveler" of my Motu card for example). I play very rarely slap, but the tests I made repeated slap also are conclusive. We better hear the percussive detail and low even with a full band playing relatively strong.

More importantly, it does wonders for his help in "vintage" of Rick (capacity added to the bridge pickup) for drilling in a mix repeated. Usually, as soon as I switched to this mode, lowering the tone of the bridge pickup to approach 60's feel (to quote the Kinks or the Beatles without using the damper or ropes or nets dishes), j 'I find it difficult to break compared to "normal" mode. With Multicomp, I mean really good. So, I also use the mic much more serious one on Rick. It is not as recessed as the bridge pickup. It opened my palette.

And I should also point out that it helps much input from my fuzz (Big Muff clone Tall Font Russian) to keep the grades despite saturation even pushed to the extreme.

I'm on a compressor with more complex opto, I could go further, but I also think that I did not need. I like the simplicity and the natural sound of my Rick spent in an Ampeg (I did not but the VT Bass mimics very well and is more flexible to address a real tube amp).
And I realize that I can better my speed work by stopping the game bourriner fingers, which in addition removes the "tick tick" unpleasant violent attacks of my game not very shrewd.

OVERALL OPINION

For me the combination Multicomp in tubesim + Tech 21 VT Bass Preamp is right in what I was looking for my Rickenbacker. I'm in heaven. I even stopped to touch the amp volume all the time to try to cover the guitarist who often hardly any bass on his Fender amp than me (one day maybe guitarists stop to believe that a good sound alone = a good group .. but its the end of the world might happen before).
And I even dropped a maximum limit to the point where the kick drum cover me, I still heard quite clearly even with just the neck pickup tones or zero.

In this context, I put 10/10 because to me, I hit her almost perfect (ie that respects the imperfections of the rest of the chain) ... until the next crisis PSM course (BBE Opto one?)

The ad says "an instrument that already sounds good sound even better" ... I 100% agree with this slogan. Okay so with those who say we do not notice it but it lacks dice it is cut. But for me it is the definition of a transparent compressor.

I have not tried many bass compressor pedal. Sardine Can Celmo just my guitar that does not give conclusive results on a Rick.
