ToneBoosters expanded the concept of the TrackEssential de-esser and the tool included in TB Evoke to develop TB Sibalance.
The plug-in controls are similar to the ones found in a compressor, with input and output curves, threshold, ratio, soft-knee and control ranges, as well as a dry/wet mix. A Level Threshold affects the signal level: when the input level reaches the threshold defined for the level, the measured sibilance will progressively be reduced and the de-essing amount will become more subtle, and even non will be applied.
TB Sibalance features three de-essing algorithms that can be combined: broad-band, band-limited and matched-filter, the latter creates a dynamic filter that reduces only the sibilances and leaves the rest of the signal untouched.
You can also adjust the amount of sound components (harmonics or noises) that come with the sibilance for extended accuracy.
Last, ToneBoosters gives you the opportunity to process only the Mid part of a bus or full track without touching the Side.
TB Sibalance is a VST and AU plug-in for Mac OS X and Windows. It is available for 19.95 € and you can download a trial version from www.toneboosters.com.
