Published on 04/22/11 at 18:15Expander is not keyboard, it has 2 banks of huge orchestral sounds 1 and 2, I added two maps of the Orbit 3 because there are two slots provided for this purpose that can receive cards other synths like the E-MU Mo Phatt, Vintage Clothing Pro, Orbit 3, Planeth earth, the XL7, the flash ROM Ptoteus 2000/2500...et of the E4.
Intelligent policy that allows machines with 3 having almost all the others.
The effects are many but I do not use them, I record "dry".
Virtuoso is the basis of a rack of classic sounds from the orchestra very well sampled and respecting the nature of the instruments, their range and even different ways to play. The E-MU has made very strong.
Try all of violins played in tremolo, you're already there, like in the movie "Doctor Zhivago", it vibrates, is full of harmonics, warm, and aftertouch is bluffing n is no exception, what power under the fingers.
The sounds are editable, I find great personal basis but we can play with them without worry, the editing is like a Proteus of the brand, it's simple and effective and most powerful of course.
There are 2 MIDI IN therefore 32 midi channels that is seen as the machine has 128-voice polyphony with the cards you have a factory sounds in a small box!
UTILIZATION
It is a simple machine for those who know E-MU, for others it quickly takes the envelope, the philosophy is E-MU Modular, not 36 sub-menus such as Yamaha.
The manual is thick, well not very useful for me.
SOUNDS
Yes for conventional projects, this is a massacre, the violins of the orchestra were particularly worked, they are very numerous, the brass are less good on the other hand, I remember that time I had the Emax but fewer of the best.
The flutes are very successful, the clarinets are not bad at all. on the other hand I was disappointed by the oboe, which are a little lighter.
The percussion is thunder, as well designed as the violins, it said.
There are some excellent synthetic sounds.
The game's difficulty lies in the aftertouch which is highly sought to modulate the sound in real time, sometimes you use the mouse to equalize the data and then work with a sequencer.
The dynamic is breathtaking!
I put 10/10 as it is a machine that you are bluffing to prmière note.
OVERALL OPINION
9 / 10 for one reason only: I have not yet figured out how to get my sequencer recognize the sounds that I record when I turn off the machine, the sounds are not registered, you must put everything after that 'it back on.
Apparently there is a way to save his bank of sounds in a page on the rack but I have not had time to look.
You can purchase with your eyes closed. This machine is unique and we realize it quickly becomes essential!
