Xoxos has released Circuit, a MIDI generating VST instrument plug-in for Windows that creates rhythms by joining short phrases together.
This is intended to produce more natural algorithmic sequences by evening the distribution of beats and rests.
In Circuit, probability values are used to determine the pattern of phrases, and to translate the steps of each phrase into MIDI notes. Dynamic and complex sequences can then be produced by adjusting a few parameters or with modulation.
Circuit has 4 sequencing channels that tap the same pattern, and a 3 stage counter for creating fills. The GUI includes performance oriented controls and enough modulators for automated applications.
Circuit costs $33. A demo version is available.
