How long have you use it?
Since 2005. First Live, and in the studio.
What is so special that you like most and least?
At the time, I was able to benefit from the latest models of the former Starclassic series.
It has not been modified aesthetically as the new models (which I find
much less attractive.)
I do not think one can say only negative if it is the price (and again ...)
Moving to the positive: It's hard to not say that, but many drummers
Tama often displayed in the category of batteries "metallic", which is
completely false. All this of course depend on the type, the type of skin,
cymbals ... a single factor can not be assumed by default.
I play myself in a group of groove-rock (a mix funk, hip hop and alternative rock)
Tama and this is really well knew its place.
The aesthetics alone will play equally crucial when making a purchase at this level. Tama
proposes a model of a high quality addition, Tama offers a series of "EFX", for
more advanced drummers (the wood remains the same, but the colors are different, question
taste: p.)
Have you tried many other models before buying it?
No, I just hesitate with the Yamaha Oak Custom home, and on the way home my dealer
favorite musical, I found myself in front of each of these two models.
Neither one nor two, I start first on the Yamaha. The sound was very warm (strange
for a drumkit so heavy: s, well yes it is the oak still ...), but I reproached
the bass drum (depth 17 ") for being too quiet.
When I turn my head, I saw the Tama, and I also decided to try it.
Needless to say, the lack of aggressiveness shown by Yamaha, has quickly show
their credentials in the testing of Tama.
Here we enter a series of "Birch Custom". Birch traditionally shown
more power and slam as maple or oak, even at a strike
relatively low. Specification for timber: 6 mm, 6-ply for toms, and 7 mm, 7
ply for the bass drum. Note also that Tama makes available a wide range
Evans skins, to skin an Evans Genera, Genera Genera 2 and 4, it will already be
less to buy.
How would you rate the quality / price?
For this price level, it was bound to expect something prestigious.
Not to worry, you really pay for, both in the "mouth"
sound and playing comfort and a price ranging between 1600 and 1900 euros, not Tama
never give eyes to DW ...
With experience, you do again this choice?
Without any hesitation, and I can still boast a small jewelry that no longer exists as it is today.
Friends drummers, your wallets, blink bling ...
