Despite his age and the output of its big brother the Béta57, it is still very usable.
Very good on snare. Very good for taking on his guitar amp.
Correct also for miking choral if there is no return in the corner (risk of feedback).
Passes fine on many other instruments, though I prefer the smoothness and the fidelity of electrets pencil.
OVERALL OPINION
Used over the past fifteen years, together with Béta57 slightly better in the high treble.
But there are still many professionals who prefer the SM57 on the snare Béta57 brighter.
