Cardioid dynamic microphone (it picks up front, not too much on the side and not behind) intended rather to the stage for the song and by extension for any type of local capture.
As mentioned above, it is very solid.
OVERALL OPINION
It is a versatile microphone that can be used for countless situations ... but 98% live! If it is too tough, it's not for nothing: this microphone like sweat ...
Every singer has to have one. Ubiquitous and inescapable.
On the stage, singing and most wind instruments, percussion and even is the microphone to try first ... If you like it (as is quite possible, depending on the singer or the singer, instrumentalist, style ...) try something else, there's the choice ... Rare are the plates that do not have a dozen.
For studios, whether for voice or for the winds, a condenser microphone (even a cheap t.bone) is likely to be much more efficient. Under these conditions the sm 58 is best suited for drums, snare or toms.
