Photo of my bass here ( http://www.mediasupload.com/membres/Emile%20K/1202429037.JPG )
- Made in Japan with American coins.
- 20 medium jumbo frets, two pickups Vintage Jazz Bass.
- Badass II Bridge
- The neck pickup volume, bridge pickup volume, two tone, one switch active / passive.
- Channel '75 Jazz Bass type (C)
UTILIZATION
- The handle is as comfortable as I hit to date. Or too thin or too thick. It's a real treat!
- Access to acute is not perfect, especially after the sixteenth fret, but anyway it's not important to me.
- Ergonomics is very good: it is a very well balanced low, though perhaps a bit heavy, but it's still quite suporte. I like the body is large.
- The sound is really typed '75 Jazz Bass, slamming and very precise, and we really slap the sound of Marcus Miller. But not that! You can also get a more round and full, if desired.) The preamp is not terrible, it's unfortunately recurring Fender, so it lowers the note. You really turn the knob from one end to another to feel the boost / cut.
SOUNDS
- It's perfect for styles of music I play.
- I play with a head lamp and an enclosure 15 "house, but I also played with on the Ampeg, SWR, Hartke and Marshall. I did not like about Ampeg and SWR. As against my All Tube amp and Marshall (tube well) I tried me very much. Occasionally, I use a Big Muff U.S., but it's very casual.
- Generally I keep slamming their typical of the low in assets with two microphones to the bottom and slightly boosting bass and treble. When I want to get a more round, next round I play most, if not the key, and I cut the treble and the bridge pickup.
- I love the full character of this low. There is no sound that I hate. For cons, I will change the preamp as soon as possible: it is not efficient enough.
OVERALL OPINION
- I bought this bass in Cologne in July.
- I love the look (with the characteristic pickguard, the bridge Badass and the micro-cache), the active electronics that can be sounded Jazz Bass (in passive), more modern but still with the grain Fender. What I like least: the preamp.
- I tried a low forties at the Cologne Music Store (the largest music store in Europe) including Mayones, Fame, Ibanez, Yamaha, Cort ... I had left saying "anything but a Fender" and finally I tried it and I fell in love. I left with now!
- I think it's one of the best quality / price for Fender, with Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. The Fender Made In Japan has very good reputation, and I understand why!
- I would do this choice again in a second. For me, it buries the bass easily all I tried! Now, even trying to F, Alembic worth ten times its price, I say "it is not my Jazz." I think I'm crazy for this low, that's all. In addition, as I bought it in Germany, mine is Olympic White finish, found in France, which I find much prettier than the classic natural finish.
