News Electro-Harmonix Tone Tattoo

EHX introduces their first true multi-effects pedal combining three guitar effects: distortion, chorus and delay.

Each of theanalog Tone Tattoo’s sections was taken from one of the company’s products: Metal Muff for distortion, Neo Clone for chorus and Memory Toy for delay.

The effects in the Tone Tattoo are independent. Three footswitches provide control over which effect is on or off. Additionally, every parameter in this pedal has a dedicated knob or switch so there is no need to scroll through menus.

The Metal Muff is the first pedal in the chain and features controls for Drive, Volume, Treble and Bass. A three-position mini-toggle Scoop switch let’s the player select high (-11dB) or low (-7.5dB) mid frequency attenuation. In the down or Off position, there is no attenuation. There is also a Gate button and Threshold control. These reduce hum at higher drive settings and are designed to make the echoes from the Memory Toy more distinct when using distortion and delay together.

The second effect in the chain is chorus. A Rate knob controls the Neo Clone’s modulation speed and a Depth button let’s the player select high or low chorus intensity.

The Memory Toy is the last effect in the chain and delivers 30ms to 550ms of delay time adjustable through its Delay control. Additional controls for Feedback, Blend and Gain are also provided.

Using the Tone Tattoo is like having three separate effects pedals on a pedalboard without the need for additional cables or power supplies—in a package with a 4.75″ x 5.75″ footprint.
