I bought the Zoom 606 from a Mars Music store in Texas. Actually, it was a christmas present from my grandmother. It cost around $100. I choose the 606 because it had all the effects I needed, and an expression pedal.

The 606 has been great so far. I use it all the time. My favorite feature is the variaty of distortion effects it has. The 60 has 9 distortion types, each with adjustable gain settings. I have also liked the variety of other effects that I use mainly to spice up the distortions or to create new, unconventional sounds. For instance, using light chorus with the "PVY," or "Metal 7th" distortion and setting the built in equalizer low gives hard metal sound, while putting a light tremolo on with the "lead" distortion makes a great setting for leads that have notes held for awhile (does the vibrato for you.) Some examples of unconventional sounds I've gotten from it include an underwater, bubbly sound I got from using the chorus and autowah sounds together.

The 606 is not without its downsides, however. One of the main reasons I got it rather than another for the same price was the wah. Most other effects at this price don't have a wah. Well, the wah is not very good. It does not move smoothly (the sound) from high to low, and the pedal itself is a little uncomfortable compared to the crybaby. Also, the effects are not analog. this is very anoying! For instance: you cannot change the deepth and the rate of the tremolo seperatly. Each effect has 9 settings, and for some of them, 4 of those settings are just the first 4 with chorus added on (this chorus cannot be customised.)

The 606 seems to be built pretty well. I have not had it very long, but I have seen no signs of wear and tear which is very unique: things near me tend to break down at a faster rate...

Bottom line, this product is good for people who wouldn't know what to do with the overwhelming amount of choices of the analog multieffects. It offers basically every basic, nessecary setup fairly easily. I would not recomend it to the kind of musician who is anal about his sound. This machien just doesn't give you absolute control over it, but like I said, that is a good thing for some people!
