« Zoom GFX-707 »
Published on 08/12/07 at 15:00Pro musician/composer, mainly writing for others now, but still doing the odd gig here and there.
A dealer in Charing Cross Road, London (sorry- I forget the name.) Cost around £100 about 5 years ago. I bought it as I was looking for a single pedal that could do more or less anything and this seemed like a good option.
Ignore all the others on this site who have slagged this unit off- in my humble opinion you won't find a better multieffects pedal for the money. OK, some of the dedicated distortion/wah/delay/etc. boxes that you can buy may do their individual jobs better than the Zoom, but if you want a good all-rounder, this one is the one to go for!
I have no use for the drum machine patterns, but I suppose that they could be useful for some players.
It looks a bit fragile as it's plastic, but I've used it and trodden on it for years with not so much as a crackle!
If you're looking for dedicated state-of-the-art FX units, this may not be for you, but you'd have to spend a lot more to get anything that comes even close to what this does. I've had this for 5 years now, I use it all the time, and I'm not selling!
