dear fanzine readers,

A week ago i got my first apple computer and trying to learn it.
However last night i installed cubase 7 elements which i had bought a few months ago when i still worked on Windows.

On the Windows machine it installed fine and i got everything i needed. The 3 sound plug ins ( hum yeah ) where installed and worked fine. The mixer window had everything it needed like compressors, limiters, eq, saturation and more ( like the low roll off and phase reverse buttons ) .

Now that i'm done installing it on my mac i seem to miss a lot of things. For example I now have only one sound plug in and the mixer is incomplete . I no longer have my low roll off, no reverse buttons and just one standard compressor and eq in the mixer window.
The saturation, limiter, gate etc are all gone.

Does somebody how this is possible and know how to fix this because i need those options badly

Many thanx

-Angelie

Hi Angelie,

What comes standard with Cubase should be identical (except for the format of the plugins), regardless of whether installed on a windows or mac computer. Could you give a bit more info/screenshots? You're talking about your mixer window. Can you confirm this is within cubase and not, for example, a 3rd party plugin you've used before?

If it's strictly the standard plugins that suddenly disappeared, I would just reach out to the guys at Steinberg or on their support forums in order to get an answer. I'm assuming your new mac machine has OS X Yosemite installed, which is still relatively fresh off the press, so any compatibility issues should be resolved eventually. Perhaps its an issue with Cubase and Yosemite? Take a look in this support forum and see if there's any issues you share with others

If you could give more info that would be great, but above all, don't panic. From my experience, apples are far more stable with music production software and hardware than windows machines with equal specs. While problems may occur, a little patience usually goes a long way

Hey,
When possible i will post some images.
The missing objects are not a 3th party plugin.

The apple machines operating system is mountain lion.

However i did contact steinberg and must wait because their are a bit low on staff at the moment.

Hello angelie,

It seems that you have installed the software but you need to reactivate it. That means you need to download the license again.
The installer that you have also includes Cubase LE 7 and Cubase AI 7, the Cubase Elements 7 license will enable the functions that you are missing ;)

Please log-in to your MySteinberg account and perform a reactivation.

After that I will also recommend you to down load the latest maintenance update for Cubase Elements 7 you can find it on the following link:
https://www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=downloads_cubase_elements_7&L=1

If you are having problems reactivating you can send me a PM with the email address that you used to register at MySteinberg and I will help you reactivate the software.

Best regards,
GN

Don't worry, it's there! You just have to press command+shift+3 for a full screen shot, or command+shift+4 for a customized screenshot where you choose the dimensions. Give it a try to see what I mean, hope that helps

Exactly. And when you do that, your screen capture will end up on your desktop. An alternate way to take a screenshot is to open Apple's Preview app, then open the File menu and near the bottom you'll see a Take Screen Shot command. The advantage to using that rather than the "command + shift + 4" or "command + shift + 3" key commands is that your screen shot will open instantly. It also gives you an additional option of shooting a user-specified window. However, sometimes, for whatever reason, opening Preview will cause certain windows (like plug-in windows) to go to the background, which makes it useless for certain screen shots.
