Published on 09/05/12 at 02:33I will not go into the technical details. My Timefactor is the latest firmware version, 3.5 when I write these lines.
Overall the pedal is very well built, the chassis is solid, trusted and switches will anyway not often used because I bought among other MIDI capabilities.
Only regret: everything goes through the DSP, not as in Strymon which offers "analog dry".
UTILIZATION
This is not a pedal that control in a few minutes, there is clearly a time (: D) before using it correctly, the fault of many options that need to know. It is not difficult for many, you just take your time, which is a bit frustrating when unpacking. Once assimilated operation, it works alone.
A tip: remember to enable the catchup, handy for editing presets.
The only problem: changing banks and presets. By default only the right switch to increment the banks, but none for the decrement. Skip the bank 4 bank 3 is a horror. However, it is possible to reduce the number of banks in the setup menu. I have also enjoyed a preset + / - via CC.
SOUND QUALITY
This is the highlight of the Timefactor.
I mostly use DuckedDelay and TapeEcho. The first for the lead, although it was set a delay that does not eat her dry. The second for clean sounds, there has clearly been an increase since the last firmware.
I also created a chorus more than satisfactory with VintageDelay, and with the extra reverb MultiTapDelay. Briefly, a mini multi-effect for the price of a delay.
Overall I am very satisfied with the sound quality of the pedal, I use mainly digital delays and this is the area of Eventide battery and it is excellent. Those who prefer such delays will be directed more towards Tape Strymon El Capistan is the bluffing.
Other modes that interest me little, the looper is unfortunately too limited.
I mostly used in a parallel loop with the active dry kill, I play a few days ago in series and it works well too. Relay bypass mode can not be distinguished difference, but anyway my effects loop is switchable ... Other modes are possible depending on the use.
OVERALL OPINION
Overall I am delighted with this pedal. Increased frustration from the beginning we arrive at simple delays or completely extravagant, but always pleasant. This is an expensive pedal but with many advantages.
As more modern oriented delays the Eventide seems to me to be a better choice, fans of vintage sounds will turn to Strymon Timeline and.
