Mono, a volume gain (classic) and a "filter" that is not a simple tone but adds bass or treble, turning to the extreme (as Rat) A switch with 3 positions: normal, max- turbo, which changes the response to the gain level and adds a clipping diodes on the turbo position. True Bypass. Build quality very clean except the switch is in marshmallow and is the weakest link. 2 times reduced due to congenital weakness. Mouse-Rat MDR.
UTILIZATION
No user manual, as the compressor from the same brand, but hey, nothing complicated, it's classic. Attention big difference in output level depending on the position of the switch. It's very annoying if you want to make adjustments on the fly live. The distortion becomes very (too) severe drooling in from the 2 °-thirds of the winning race to a half depending on the position of the switch. Even with microphones high output level. It's all that takes time to find a satisfactory setting especially there is a definite interaction between the filter and the gain (like the Rat ...).
SOUND QUALITY
I just came from a search of several months of the distal ideal, and I've tried a few. The Biyang does not sound like a rat now. I can not remember how the original sounds a Rat, so?? Biyang the hot sounds and flute in hand fuzz when the gain exceeds the half, the momentum is large enough and the character of the guitar is not too muffled. The positions are quite normal, turbo family, certain nuances of the attack and response in the bass. The max for me is unusable, it seems to have a saturation unwanted tape-rotten genre in which we ask too much. Good response to volume knob, and an overdrive upstream. I use it with two settings: either gain to 11.00, normal or turbo position and filter to 2:00, for a prog rock genre's beautiful solo, a little less relevant in rhythm. Gain is almost the minimum for a clear limit to the merger, like Fender white hot, but with a color and grain a bit different (you understand that?). Terrible in casseroles or arpeggios or funky ... All the time what. In all cases, it is never aggressive and not very roots. Not AC / DC or Pantera or SRV. But Jeff Beck, Marillion, Dream Theater or even when walking. Or me ... But for the latter, everyone cares.
OVERALL OPINION
I've had it three months and it is not the distortion present in my pedalboard, but I use it when I have cravings for theatrics on a recording. Sounds very hot, like all products of the brand I've tried. Damage to the switch with two bullets, one false note in an array of 50 €. Yes, 50 € is given when you see some pedals "boutique" to 5 times more expensive. And that's the standard price of the full range Biyang. There are branded clone Collins or Eagleton. Questions?
