Published on 08/31/04 at 15:00This "slave" amp was purchased through American Music Supply for $499.95. The amp was so popular that it took 4 weeks to ship it. After I was informed of the ship date, I bought a second unit, one for gigs, the other for the studio. Granted, I'd just made $1000 in amp purchases sight unseen and untested, I had only the manufacturer's claims to rely on. My world was about to change. I got a contact number from the 2004 Guitar Player Gear Review...So I called it and got the actual owner of Atomic! Great guy, very informative, and he said "Hearing is believing.". Right On!
This is the ULTIMATE guitar modeler amp! Just fit your PODxt, POD 2.0, J-Station, whatever, in the supplied bracket, power up, and stand back! No need for a power chord for your modeler, or cables to connect to the unit. It's all neatly supplied in the bracket(it can be removed anytime and you still have total access to your modeler)! The tones you hear will blow you away!! No other amp will EVER sound as good. I've used Marshalls, Fenders, Peaveys, Mesas...ALL your tones are here- gloriously reproduced from this amp's ability to de-digitize your patch settings. You'll hear all the warmth and crunch and distortion like you actually owned the amp you're modelling!! I've gigged with it and just blown people away! This is one unit you'll want to own.
The amp NEEDS a cover! None in production yet. Also, it only has one handle, which is pretty generic looking. A vintage style one with stitching would compliment the amp's vintage vibe nicely. Other than that, it's PERFECT.
All wood cab, custom 150w speaker, and a cool vintage grille...weighs less than 40 pounds. Now I can carry everything into any gig in just about 1 trip! No more 1/2 stack loading/unloading. Top rate bullet-proof housing and all metal modeler bracket. Also, there is an aluminum grille that you can see the 2 EL84's light up through!
Get 'em while you can and while they're not "priced out" of anyone's range. This slave amp will make a good player great, and a great player the most versatile on the planet. Record, gig, show off...but don't lend it out-you may never get it back!
