The magnet is ceramic but it is not super strong. It has a lower output and warm sound. The magnets are not super strong with this pickup so the output is pretty low. It has a super smooth sound that can work well with any kind of lead playing. It is similar to the Air Norton or Liquifier in its smoothness. If you are looking for a super smooth neck pickup that is something different this is a good choice. People tend to go to the more obvious choice like the Air Norton or the Liquifier but this pickup can do all that with its own unique tone and feel.
